Vangie’s Kitchen, Pinoy Takeaway in Darwin is a place as close to a Pinoy Restaurant in Darwin. Last week I found this Pinoy Food takeaway shop at Sabine Shopping Center located at the corner of Sabine Road and McMillans Road. It is on your right side if you are traveling from the Darwin airport towards the City.

On my last post on my continued quest for Filipino Restaurant, Pinoy Food Takeaway and Pinoy Food Stores here in Australia I did mentioned that I have not found a Filipino Restaurant in Darwin. Is Vangie’s Kicthen would be the missing Filipino Restaurant that I am looking for? Vangie’s Kicthen is takeaway and a dine-in food shop which cater Pinoy food and Pinoy sweet and delicacy. Vangie’s Kitchen also serves breakfast and lunch or dinner takeaways.

Vangie’s Kitchen, Pinoy Food Choices

I have the opportunity to talk to the owner, Vangie to ask her what is the story behind the Vangie’s Kitchen. Vangie’s story is a Pinoy success story, a Pinoy mom who have worked hard until she finally got her own food takeaway shop. Vangie cook her own kakaning, Pinoy food sweet and delicacy and sell them on week-end markets. According to her, most times she has work on a two day jobs, besides waking up early in the morning to cook her kakanin and sell them at the Rapid Creek Market.

Definitely Vangie can cook good Pinoy food and Pinoy sweet and delicacy. Vangie’s Kitchen is where most Pinoy in Darwin would go for lunch, dinner or takeaway if they are not cooking. It is also a place to go when Pinoy in Darwin require Filipino food for their parties and event celebration.

Adobo sa Asin, Adobong Baboy sa Asin Recipe . This is my second version of this adobo dish . The first was simply called adobong puti . Cooking procedure of both are similar, on the first dish it was a mixture of chicken and pork. Both versions are cooked adobo with out soy sauce. I have to post this request in response to some readers query on how to cook adobo sa asi n. This is best served a day after with chopped tomato and onion with fish sauce and a lot of rice. Ingredients: 1/2 kilo pork belly, pork rasher, cut into serving pieces 1/2 cup white vinegar 1 head garlic, crushed 1 tsp. pepper corns 3-5 pieces bay leaf 3/4 tsp salt Cooking procedure: In a sauce pan place pork, pour 2 cups of water. Add in vinegar, garlic, peppercorns and bay leaf and salt bring to a boil and simmer at medium to low heat for 20 to 30 minutes add more water if required. Ginisang Bulaklak ng Kalabasa .How would you like unique vegetable dish of squash flowers. Our Bulaklak ng Kalabasa Recipe or dish is made up of bulaklak and talbos ng kalabasa with the addition of sitaw.
