Ginisang Corned Beef, Soupy Version

Image
Ginisang Corned Beef, Soupy Version. One of my favorite breakfast is Corned Beef and I am pretty sure a lot of Pinoy also. For some reason we want it soupy so that we could mixed it with hot steaming rice. Before the coming of locally canned corn beef, the corned beef that I remember were sold in blocks, cut from a bigger block. Corned beef in cans where special at that time, the cans come with a key opener and are imported. These were mostly from or brought back by balikbayan relatives from the USA . Corned beef out of the can is still sold in blocks at least in Metro Manila, it is available in both wet markets and on most supermarkets. For my Ginisang Corned Beef, Soupy Version dish for today, I used a 1/2 kilo block of corn beef bought from my favorite supermarket. It is chunky and it is not in nuclear red but I am not too sure if it is free from food coloring, never the less it did tastes better than the more expensive canned corned beef . Cooking is fai...

Sinigang na Corned Beef

Image
Sinigang na Corned Beef . I was tempted to try to make sinigang na corned beef , which has been a subject of a lot of Pinoy foodies for some time now. Yes corned beef in sour broth, not that canned corned beef that most Pinoy are familiar with, but firm corned or cured beef meat against the mushy canned corned beef. Here in Australia corned beef silverside are readily available in most supermarket and meat shops, therefore making a good sinigang na corned beef here is one step less, the curing or the process of making corned beef out of fresh beef meat . I have seen a lot of sinigang na corned beef in the net using the canned corned beef and would say it looks awful, the sight of disintegrated corned beef swimming on the sinigang broth seem not right. However I still believed that it may taste better than its look, perhaps I could try to make one in the near future, besides I have already tried to use canned corned beef in a soup dish, the corned beef sopas and it wa...

Ginisang Corned Beef with Potato, Ginisang Carne Norte at Patatas

Image
Ginisang Corned Beef with Potato, Ginisang Carne Norte at Patatas is one of the more popular breakfast dish for most Pinoy. It is also one of the favorite and regular breakfast meal in my home. Sautéed corned beef with potato is fairly easy to prepare even though my version require a 2 stage cooking method. There are usually two method of pre-cooking the potatoes for our sautéed corned beef with potato , the diced potato may either be pre-boiled or pre-fried either way they are both fine, but this version I pre-fried the potatoes. For this recipe I used the Australian brand Hamper Corned Beef which is the better choice of more Pinoy here in Australia . Hamper Corned Beef is chunky similar to the Pinoy corned beef , it is also full of flavors which is maintained even the day after. Here is the recipe of my Ginisang Corned Beef with Potato, Ginisang Carne Norte at Patatas . Ingredients: 1 340g can corned beef 1 large size potato, skinned, diced, pre-fried 2 l...
