Sizzling Bulalo Steak
Sizzling Bulalo Steak. Bulalo to Pinoy is beef shanks boiled for hours till all the flavors are extracted and the meat and tendons almost fall off the bones. Ok that is the how most Pinoy enjoy their bulalo. Today I would like to share another cooking method of bulalo, Sizzling Bulalo Steak. The idea is not new in fact it also one of the more popular restaurant Pinoy dish.

Bulalo Steak

Cooking the Sizzling Bulalo Steak is not that difficult, off course if you have a sizzling hot plate, and a pressure cooker if you cook Sizzling Bulalo Steak using my recipe.  To cook my version of Sizzling Bulalo Steak involves 3 stages of cooking, pre-cooking the bulalo steaks, frying and sizzling. There is also another step of cooking the mushroom sauce use in our Sizzling Bulalo Steak. For this recipe to keep it in the fairly easy side I used Knorr Cream of Mushroom mix for the sauce.

Sizzling Bulalo Steak Recipe

Here is the recipe of my Sizzling Bulalo Steak.

Ingredients:

3-4 slices beef shank
1/2 head garlic, crushed
1 large size onion, peeled quartered
2-3 clove garlic, peeled, chopped
1 small size onion, peeled, chopped
1/2 sachet 70g Knorr Cream of Mushroom powder mix
1 small can, canned cooked whole button mushroom, sliced
1-2 tbsp. soy sauce
1 tbsp. peppercorns
fried garlic
salt and pepper
cooking oil

Cooking procedure:

Put the beef shanks in a pressure cooker and fill with water just above the meat. Add in the garlic, onion and peppercorns. Cover and let it cook for 25 to 30 minutes, lower the heat once steam start to vent out. When done carefully remove the beef shanks out from the pressure cooker, drain excess liquid, keep aside. Using a sieve to filter, transfer the broth in a bowl and keep aside.

In a frying pan sear the beef shank on both side and keep aside. Using the same frying pan sauté garlic and onion until fragrant, then add in the mushroom and continue to stir cook for another 1 to 2 minutes. Add 1 cup of the broth, soy sauce and Cream of Mushroom mix dissolve in 1 cup of the broth. Bring to a boil and cook over low to moderate heat, stirring constantly for 2 to 3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

To serve arrange seared bulalo steaks in a heated sizzling plate. Pour sauce over the bulalo steaks garnished with fried garlic.
